4 months, and silence means refusal
The period runs from the acknowledgement of receipt, inside or outside quota zones. It was raised from 3 to 4 months “temporarily and exceptionally” to clear the early-2026 backlog. With no answer after 4 months, the application is deemed refused: see refusal and appeal.

Hand over my applicationIncomplete file: 15 days, or nothing
Outside quota zones, the Métropole asks for missing documents and gives 15 days; otherwise it refuses. In a quota zone there is no second chance: the file is rejected, with no waiting list.
In a quota zone, checking every document before filing matters more than filing fast. We do it for free: hand over my application.
